Mercury Program

Mercury Program Mercury is one of the most damaging neurotoxins and one of the most prolifically used heavy metals throughout the world. According to the CDC, the nervous system is very sensitive to all forms of mercury. Exposure to high levels can permanently damage the brain, kidneys, and developing fetus. Short-term exposure to high levels of metallic mercury vapors may cause effects including lung damage, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increases in blood pressure or heart rate, skin rashes, and eye irritation. Blacksmith is committed to reducing human mercury exposure, especially to children whom are disproportionately affected. We are working on a number of initiatives to limit mercury release into the environment as a result of occupational and industrial applications.
